We are so excited about the Southern City Institute and how it benefits the local youth and aspiring actors, writers, producers, and filmmakers in the area who have a place to learn and grow in the craft. The Southern City Institute has already worked with hundreds of kids producing over a dozen films!

Southern City was founded in 2015 and hosted its first film festival in the fall of 2016 in Aiken, SC. FilmFreeway awarded the film festival their “Top 100 Best Reviewed Film Festivals in the World” award, which we also received the second year as well! The Southeast is so rich with talent from all mediums that we wanted a place to showcase and celebrate that talent.

We firmly believe in our motto ‘It all starts with an Idea’ because we think all great things originally just stem from an idea. We want to see and reward your ideas at the next SCFF!

The Southern 48 is a 48 Hour Film Competition! It's open to all CSRA and nearby residents. Participants can win cash prizes and enjoy food and drinks at the kickoff and wrap parties! Everyone is welcome, even if you don’t have a team; we can help you join one. Each team will receive a line of dialogue, a prop, and a genre to work with.

The Southern City Film Society is a dynamic film club dedicated to the appreciation and discussion of cinema. Members gather regularly to watch and engage in thoughtful conversations about a wide variety of films, including select submissions from the Southern City Film Festival. The club fosters a collaborative environment where film enthusiasts can share their insights and help curate the next screenings, making it a hub for cinematic exploration and community.
